Rheumatologist Appointment

Boo had her checkup and blood tested today with Dr. Caroline Thomee, a tiny, big-blue-eyed pediatric rheumatologist here. She was very nice and the appointment was super fast.

Because Boo didn't show any signs of inflammation in her last blood draw at Cleveland Clinic, she only had to get a finger prick. Since she's never had one before, she wasn't very thrilled because she didn't know what to expect.

Fortunately, we had an energetic and kind nurse and it was quickly over. The doctor will have blood results today, which will be sent to Boo's rheumatologist back home. If nothing is wrong, no phone call to us from her.

The waiting room had cool touch screens for the children.

We are now off to Baden-Baden, Germany for a night. Boo and I are going to go swimming tomorrow. This Saturday we head to Reims ("Rance"), France, for a tour of the G.H. Mumm champagne cellars, which Rick Steves highly recommends. There is also a cathedral there that he compares to Westminster Abbey. I wish it were summer so we could see the light show he discusses.

Article:

Sunday we head back to Assesse, Belgium for two nights (the château with the nature trails), and will probably explore Brussels and Bruges in the evenings (1 and 2 hours from Assesse).

Next Wednesday night Boo's Mimi (John's mom) visits until the 19th, so we plan to hit up Old Luxembourg, Trier, and Bastogne.
